Sighthound collar size guide

Large size hound collars

Large size collars fit neck size 40-50 cm (16" - 19.5"), 5.5 cm wide: hound collars for Afghan hound, Borzoi, Deerhound, Greyhound.

Medium size hound collars

Medium size collars fit neck size 33-42 cm (13" - 16.5"), 5 cm wide: hound collars for Afghan hound, Ibizan hound, Greyhound, Saluki, Sloughi, Lurcher.

Small size hound collars

Small size collars fit neck size 28-33 cm (11" - 13"), 4 cm wide: hound collars for Whippets, Basenji, smaller Lurcher, larger puppies, Dachshunds, terriers, poodles, Chineese Cresteds.

X-Small size hound collars

X-Small size collars fit neck size 22-28 cm (8.5" - 11"), 3.5 cm wide: hound collars for Italian Greyhounds, Whippets, Whippet puppies, puppies of other dog breeds.

XX-Small size hound collars

XX-Small size collars fit neck size 18-22 cm (7" - 8.5"), 3.5 cm wide: hound collars for Italian Greyhounds, Whippet puppies.

Measuring your dog for a sighthound collar

It is essential that you correctly measure your hound's neck or existing collar for a prefect, comfortable and safe fit.

Our collars' sizes are given as neck measurements, not the total length of the collar. The neck size given is the distance from the buckle (A) to the first (B) and the last (C) hole.

For example, XXS collar is sized for necks between 18 cm and 22 cm (7" - 8.5"). This means that the distance from the buckle to the first hole is 7" and to the last hole is 8.5".

You can measure your hound by using a soft tape measure or ribbon and wrapping it around your hound's neck from below the chin to behind the ears. This measurement will be the smallest size collar that will comfortably fit your dog, but, at the same time, is tight enough to ensure that your slender hound can not back out off the collar.

If measuring the existing collar please measure from the buckle to the hole you are using. Please do not measure the total length of your existing collar as these will give you a wrong measurement for your Dog Moda collar.

Should your require a looser fit collar for your dog, you can measure neck circumference around the centre of your hound's neck and not under the chin and ears.

Please note that our collar sizes are deliberately designed to overlap allowing you to choose the width that you feel is most appropriate for your dog. Moreover, you can always ask for an extra hole to be made, if your dogs falls right between sizes.

Measuring your dog for a martingale (half check) collar

Carefully measure your dog's neck using a soft tape measure or piece of string where you want the collar to be worn (either just below the chin or lower down around the neck). This will give you A to B measurement, which is the leather part of martingale collar without the chain.

Our martingale collar sizes are given as distance between the two chain rings without the chain (measurement of leather collar between A and B). Therefore, you need to ensure that tape measure is snug and sits tightly around your hound's neck with no space to spare. Bear in mind that collar chain gives sufficient extra length for control, comfort and ease of putting the collar on.

Choose collar size which is closest to your desired length:

Large: 40 cm (16")

Medium I: 35 cm (14")

Medium II: 33 cm (13")

Small: 30 cm (12")

X-Small: 25 cm (10")

XX-Small: 20 cm (8")

Police style / training leather leads - adjustable

These strong versatile police style dog training leads are 3-in-1 dog leads can be adjusted and used in 3 different lengths up to 2.7 m (9ft)

Long length dog leads - 1.8 m /6ft leather leads

These are 1.8 m (6 ft) long leads and will work best with medium and large size collars.

Medium length dog leads - 1.5 m / 5ft leather leads

These are 1.5 m (5 ft) medium length leads to work similarly with large, medium and small collars. They come in different styles and finishes. You can consider traditional flat belting leather designs or go for a premium rolled leather dog leads that are hand made to the highest standard from the finest quality soft leather. In addition, there are gundog slip leads on offer now in a number of colours.

Short length dog leads - 1.2 m / 4ft leather leads

These are 1.2 m (4 ft) short length leads and will work best with small and medium size collars.

Very short length / dog show leads - 1.0 m / 3ft leather leads

Our dog show leads are all 1.0 m (3ft) long.
